The Betrayal of Guy Maddox

Overlooking a Navajo reservation in the 1950’s, a naked white male chants forbidden incantations for a banned firebird ritual, theoretically intended for returning a loved one to earth, a much feared, and deadly practice, that few Navajo braves had ever survived, and by doing so, he sets in motion a series of paranormal events that will alter the life of Jake Velasquez forever.

Appearing through the dark cloud formation, the shape of a blazing firebird hurtles earthwards, penetrating his heart and causing his entire body to erupt in flames.

Miraculously he survives the ordeal, fulfilling the purpose of the ritual, by impregnating the returned spirit, into the womb of the Chief’s only daughter.

Banned from the reservation until the after birth, he finds employment at the run-down, Silver-lake Studios in California, recently acquired by a successful TV Company.

After watching countless reels of unlabeled footage from the 1920’s, he finds one that has been carefully hidden away, and loads this onto the projector.

The scene opens on a darkened office, isolating a high-backed chair. Gradually as the unseen-occupant swivels around, he clicks on a lamp, dramatically isolating his unmistakeable features to the lone-viewer in the auditorium.

“I was hoping it might be you,” The young man smiled knowingly from the big screen.

Staring directly at the now petrified Jake Velasquez... was himself.
